About the Peterson Family
Jeff and Katie Peterson will tell you that you never know when one simple step could save a life.  Two years ago, their lives changed forever.  The young couple had spent the evening getting the home ready for the holidays, including putting up Christmas lights, and taking pictures of their two-year-old, Logan, in his holiday pajamas.

Jeff noticed a Kidde smoke alarm that he had purchase a few months ago sitting on his desk.  His wife had urged him to buy the alarm for their son’s nursery, which was on the second floor above their bedroom.  He already had the ladder upstairs, which he had used to get out holiday decorations, so he decided to install the alarm that evening.

As Katie gave Logan a bath, Jeff installed the alarm in the nursery. Hours later, the couple awoke to a shrill sound.  It was the Kiddesmoke alarm, and they heard it through the baby monitor next to theirbed.  As they went upstairs to investigate, they smelled smoke.  Theyran into the nursery, and saw flames coming through the wall separatingthe room from the attic – just a few feet from their son’s crib.  Thetwo grabbed Logan, ran downstairs and rushed outside.  They sat intheir car, and watched their home burn.  They watched the firefighterstry and fight the flames, and saw the damage the next day.  Just daysbefore the holidays, their home was gone.  But that holiday theyalready had the most precious gift – each other and their son, safefrom a fire.
